Monthly Maker Club for Junior Engineers

This monthly club introduces students to engineering design skills that are necessary for them to become confident in bringing their design ideas to life. The activities in each class foster creativity and collaboration as students tackle hands-on design tasks. The monthly schedule is as follows:

Feb 2: Build a Rube Goldberg machine (Topics covered: structures, forces, automation)

Mar 2: Build a miniature working helicopter model (Topics covered: circuit components, electricity)

Apr 6: Take apart (reverse engineer) a machine to see how it works (Topics covered: engineering design cycle, design factors & considerations)

May 4: Code a maze game in Scratch (Topics covered: Cartesian coodinates, coding basics)

June 1: Build a 3D moon bookmark in TinkerCAD (Topics covered: phases of the moon, 3D modelling basics)

This program provides a supportive environment for students to be exposed to and try out common engineering skills in a fun way. We will also provide students with resources to continue practicing their preferred skills. After this program, we hope for students to pursue one or more of these skills through additional classes, projects, etc.
